In 2029, a series of events sent the country into civil war, the government fell, cities were destroyed, and millions of people perished. Those who survived went into hiding. This event is known as the Change, and everything that came after- the Beyond.

Sixty years later, Nessa Aisling wants three things: to be treated equally to the men of her division, to venture outside, and answers. She has lived her entire life in hiding, trapped within the walls of her division. On her 18th day of aging Nessa finds limited freedom in her position as Guardian, but struggles to accept her place in the division and pushes back against the Elder council’s oppressive views, strict traditions, and refusal to intervene with those in the Beyond.

Raised to not ask questions, Nessa searches for answers in a country that no longer exists, and begins to question if the true dangers lie in the Beyond or inside her division. In her desperate pursuit of purpose and truth, Nessa unknowingly sacrifices everything.

Nessa must find a balance between those she left behind and those who found her. She must face her past and fight for her future in her pursuit of freedom and equality. But, secrets and agendas are hidden in the shadows of the last eighteen months, guarded by those closest to her.

Will Nessa be able to rescue her family? Will her return start a war?

In the meantime, this is a standalone novel set on a tidally locked planet, with a strangle of power and resources across three nations, the desert nation of Illyria, the tundra nation of Isfrid, and the imperial nation of Lirael in the twilight-zone. This story features steampunk, cyberprep, and a bi-sexual love triangle.
